July Newsletter

Greetings to members of the best District!

I am sure all of you are aware of the loss to our Circle Ten Family and especially the members of North Star.  Please continue to keep the families, Scouts, and volunteers that are mourning the loss of Nickie Rorth Lac and Christian James Sanchez who were killed after severe storms near Basswood Lake in Ontario Canada.  We honor their memory by continuing in the Scouting tradition and training our youth to follow the Scout Oath.

Many units have gone to various summer camps and have lots of stories.  Please send some of those stories and pictures for use in our next newsletter, especially of Twilight Camp!  I know Pack 681 and Pack 228 are working toward the Summer Time Pack Award.  Summer activities are important to the success of our units.

With school being around the corner our focus moves to School Night For Scouting.  Meet the teacher night for most ISDs is 18 August.  Please contact your schools about setting up a booth.

If you have not signed up for Popcorn sales, please consider doing so.  There is a training event at Camp Wisdom on 2 Aug.  Please contact Kevin Bush, our District Kernal, for help.  THe product is being sold in tins and should prove to be desirable for Christmas gifts and just snacking.  This is great way for Scouts to pay for summer camp!!

A big thanks to everyone that worked the Friends of Scouting Campaigns this year.  Our District leads the Council iin percentage raised.  We have gone over over our goal by 138%.  This year was an FOS success!
